SHOW APARTMENT - HISTORIC MILL CONVERSION
INTRODUCTION
Stamford Bridge stands at a vital crossroads where the York to
Bridlington road crosses the River Derwent. For nearly 900 years
this has been an important location for a mill. The current
Cornmill was built in 1591 but it ceased operation in 1964 and
was converted into a restaurant in 1967. In 2005 the Cornmill
was sympathetically converted into twelve individual two bedroom
apartments, whilst retaining original features and even some of
the original equipment remains place today.
DESIGN BRIEF
To design and implement a show apartment that would reveal the full potential of a dozen individual apartments created in a converted historic water mill, and to attract potential home buyers.
